Story of my Life - A life changing vacation

Story of my life – A life changing vacation

This was not the first time I was flying out of country for a vacation. I have traveled for more than 10 countries in past 5 years. However , this vacation changed my life and the only reason being that I was traveling  with my 1 year old daughter who was very curious exploring the world outside.

Ishanvi had just then started to walk and she loved empty space to practice her newly found skill. Croatia is one such place which is very safe for kids to walk with minimal supervision.
Every morning, just after finishing breakfast we would go out for exploration. She discovered this trend very quickly and each time we asked her to wear her shoes , she would get all enthusiastic about seeing something new.

Croatia is gifted with natural beauty and has them in abundant. Every house that we spotted has had a beautiful garden which consisted of variety of vegetation and trees. For instance, it was easy for one to spot a pomegranate or an orange or even grape trellis. These luxuriously grown trees act nothing but a home for varieties of bees, butterfly as well as some exotic birds which are native to that region. To add more to the fun, monkeys paid their visit from time to time.
Ishanvi was particularly amazed seeing the harmony between flora, fauna and nature and it made her extremely delightful
At the age of 1 , kids usually desire to touch and feel things (that) they see (around). Feeling different texture of leaves, shapes of fruits and colors of the flowers, Ishanvi had a time of her life exploring and proclaiming herself to be a mini-biologist.

Ishanvi is fearless and a super active as a child. She greeted other travelers and brought smile on their faces with gestures made from her hand and few funny facial expression. It was another new country for us to explore, for her it was just an other day with her parents to experience new things.
Croatia has clean and crystal like beaches. The temperature in October is perfect for outdoor activities but the water gets cold in the mornings and late evenings. We did the same drill of getting out after our breakfast and landed in a beach in our beach wears. The pebbles in the beach did hurt ishanvi a bit however she did not stop there. With a small jug in one hand and few pebbles in another , she jumped into the water. She dazed at the different water sounds when I was throwing pebbles into the water sitting next to her on the shore. She tried to imitate me and found herself successful in bringing the same sounds.

Ishanvi’s meal time is always a lengthy one. She loves to watch her favorite rhymes and the same rhymes every time she sits for her meal. “five little ducks swimming one day” is one of her favorite songs and she usually makes the quack quack sounds indicating us to put that rhyme again and yet again. Just after her afternoon small course of meal , we stepped out to a national park encountering aquatic animals and birds. It was a feast for our eyes to see the colorful fishes in the crystal-clear water surrounded by the autumn leaves. We stopped to pick up some snacks and put ishanvi in her pram next to a small lake. She being a curious kid struggled to come out of the pram and suddenly heard a quack quack sounds repeatedly. That small lake had many ducks following each other. Ishanvi immediately could relate her favorite meal time rhyme with the real ducks and signaled me that she spotted “five little ducks” .

We have seen a drastic change in her comportment post this vacation. She loves being outdoor left carefree. It was a memorable time with ishanvi for us in those 5 days. The cute little tourist is a great travel companion and we are looking forward for many more in future.

An evening in Pond Park- Al Barsha Dubai

I usually do not write blogs. But today's incidence made me to pen down about a beautiful evening i spent in a pond park.

Like any other techie I waited badly for this weekend. Not because i had plans, just wanted to stay at home doing nothing. After a heavy meal and a nap,the soothing wind, the lovely climate were just pulling me towards them, like a magnet. Going for a walk on a lake side usually is one of my weekend program. I usually prefer to walk to the closest park. But this time i drove to a 4 kilometers away Pond park located in Al Barsha.

Seeing the large audience inside the park, it did not intrigue me to go & have a peaceful there, yet, I took a chance by going in only to get surprised by the variety of stalls that I saw around.. This park is wide spread with a lake in the center surrounded by a lawn and a playing ground. Kids were on their skating shoes while a girl with a guitar sang melodiously caring less for the crowd. Small babies tried to danced on their toes for the music.

Dubai being a friendly country for the foreigners , i could see Egyptians , Arabs ,Europeans , Indians and many more. The  stalls were divided in two streets. Left street had the food stalls while the right street had the art/craft.

Every stall had a person with a smiling face welcoming to taste their freshly cooked food and to explain why their stall is special. Anyone could pick their choice of organic fruits and vegetables from with the cartons used as baskets. Cup cakes looked really colorful and i picked the "Oreo and cream" cupcake which had a chocolate cake with cream and oreo on top.

Taking bites from my cake box, i walked around the art/craft area which seemed to be more interesting. Each stall had a story to tell. The old Egyptians jewelry with white metal finger ring showing the ethnicity of the middle eastern culture, the lovely hand made baby shoes made out of Italian leather and the fragrant hand made soaps were to name few. I loved an Indian who had made some nice stitching on the hand purse and the spectacle cases. Her work on every purse was so unique and thoughtful. I could not stop myself buying one of those spectacle cases which had "Grandpa's specs" carved on it.

I sat on a bench on the lawn to complete the rest of my cupcake. We always assume, that, the western culture lacks family values. Observing people around from various parts of the world proved this assumption wrong. I could see the difference between being educated and having the human values. what made me realize that humanity still exists is that - a maid handling her master's baby, as if it is her own child.

During the onset of dawn, just as sun was trying to change it's color from red to orange to magenta, I saw series of colorful lights hanging on the streets, which added a festive look for the evening

This park is not just a place for the kids to play around at ease or a place for elderly people to get close with the nature, it surely is a place for anyone who would want to get away from the hustle bustle life in Dubai, to something peaceful & serene.

Of all the surprises that Dubai has given me so far, I feel, this one is the best!
Visit the park - every Saturday 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM
